This week's special poster is a work of art by Rembrandt van Rijn, a famous Dutch artist. The Nightwatch was painted in 1642 and can be viewed in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. On this work, you can see Captain Frans Banning Cocq and Lieutenant Willem van Ruytenburch in charge of their Military Company. Rembrandt wanted to make paintings with action. On this painting is writen what is happening: "The Master van Purmerlant(aka Banning Cocq) as the Captain orders his Lieutenant van Vlaerdingen(aka van Ruytenburch) to march his company of riflemen." Rembrandt made his work very dark because as he said: " when it is dark you can make light". He made light on the costume of the Lieutenant and on the little girl on the second row. Because of its darkness, it has the nickname: "The Nightwatch". Order this poster now!
